As promised, here is the story I was working on. I enjoyed reporting on this because it was not your average sports story. This is something the majority of the public does not know about and I hope I am helping with this story.

Introduction with a Tease...

Hello Blog world! My name is John Sabol, I graduated from Kent State University, in Kent, OH, with a Bachelors degree in Broadcast News and a minor in Political Science. While at Kent State, my focus was in Sports Broadcasting and being active with Kent State’s television station TV 2. There my experience in TV exploded! My four years of involvement at TV 2 included: anchoring sports in the evening newscast, anchoring a sports talk show, play-by-play for Kent State Men/Women’s basketball team and a reporter for the Kent State football team.

I interned at WJW Fox 8 in Cleveland in the summer of 2007 and had an amazing experience at the station, while reporting on the Cavs/Indians. Working in the sports department alongside the best sports anchors in Cleveland (John Telich, Tony Rizzo & Dan Coughlin), taught me so much about the business and about life in general. Definitely an experience I will never forget. Thanks guys!

I am hoping to land a television job anchoring/reporting on sports. It' s taken longer than I expected, but with a bad economy and no one hiring, there is nothing else I can do, but just be patient. I have created this blog for three reasons: To stay fresh on the writing/reporting aspect of the business, to show television news directors I am keeping active in broadcasting, and to use this as an outlet for me to talk about sports for my enjoyment.

Periodically, I'll post packages to my video page about various sports stories. For those out there that do not know TV terminology, a package is a video story you watch on the news. To view those stories and my other TV experiences, simply click the link on the right side of the page titled “Sports Resume Reel”.

Feel free to check this blog everyday to see what is on my mind or to watch any stories I have done. This is a new experience for me and I’m excited you’re going to be apart of it!

Before I leave you tonight, I am going to tease you with what my first package will be about. This story is unlike any other sports story you will see. I guarantee it! I will give you a few clues on what it is about.

• Clue #1: You can participate this sport inside and outside, but does not use your normal objects: ball, swimming pool, glove, bat, hockey puck etc.

• Clue #2: When you participate in this sport, you can ONLY do so at the one venue in the entire world in Cleveland, OH.

• Clue #3: I can say with almost 100% certainty, that the majority of you have participated in this sport before outdoors, but most likely for leisure.

I may be a bit vague on the clues, but I want you to really think about this. I do not want to give my story away without having some fun!
